In 2010 plans were made to construct some wind turbines on the former oilrig site. The application was allowed by the local council and in 2013 work started to construct one of the three turbines.

The turbines will be the largest inshore turbines in Europe and are designed for offshore use but will be built inland and tested at Hunterston. It is said they will be here for 5 years but there are rumours that it may be well in excess of this so they will be here for the long term rather than the short term as planned.

This is a modified section, for full details on the Turbines please visit the dedicated website at:  http://power.hunterston.eu/turbines
