Turret Bees
Hunterston can proudly say that it has its own pet bees, well some I am sure could say bees are not pets and are just a nuisance, but far from it. The bees at Hunterston appeared in the early 1980s and made their home in the turret of the sundial.

They enter the turret from the slates to the left of the circular structure and their nest is in the pointed part of the turret which is not accessable.

Every year since they first arrived they have re-appeared and although they do swarm like in the pictures they do not attack, they are very happy and if no human contact annoys them they don't annoy you
