Spiral Staircase
The only way up and down the castle floors is via a spiral staircase. Even when the new extention was built the spiral staircase design was kept in keeping with the design of the building although the newer part to the new attic is far more modern and not so spiral like.
It is suggested when the new extention was first built the spital staircase was made of wood then replaced by stone at a later date.
