Quarries
There are three old whinstone quarries at Hunterston, one located at the base of Goldenberry Hill, one on Goldenberry Hill and the other located between the two hills.

Campbelton Hill has several areas that were used and can still be seen to this day however the other two are slighly harder to find. Over 4000 stone rocks were taken from Hunterston to build the Glasgow to Ayr Railway in the 1840s

The former quarries are now overgrown by thistles, bracken and trees covering what was once an active quarry.
