In 1956 the area of Hunterston changed for good and since then various industries have set up their home on Hunterston Land, that being two nuclear power stations, an oilrig construction yard and a deep sea port that can serve the largest container ships in the world.
There is land set aside for the building of a third nuclear power station next to the current stations but recently the owners of the deep sea port wish to use some of their land to build a coal powered power station but there are many objections to this and I agree too.
