Castle Gate
The Castle Gate is located to the south of the castle near the end of the beech avenue at the fork in the road. The left fork goes through the Bulls Gate and goes to the castle via the newer road. The right fork through the Castle Gate goes along side the castle buildings and known as the old road.

The gate is a strong stone structure and only one remains. At one time there would have been two identical turret style structures. The gate itself was made of cast iron and was relocated and is now what is known as the white gate. The date the structure was built is unknown along with when it was decomissioned, however the new road was built sometime after 1920s, so you could say any time after the mid 20th centrury it was no longer used and the new road built and the other stone structure demolished.

I have recreated what the gate would have looked like when in use.
