The Burn Gill starts at the base of Campbelton Hill where the ground was excavated for the British Steel yard, it then travels through Campbelton Marsh, under the Burn Gill bridge and then though the fields, under the Oilrig Road, Largs Avenue, Power Station road before exiting at Gulls Walk.

The burn was dredged in the 1980s and one of the bridges removed. It contains many varieties of wildlife from foxes to fish, water voles and other critters. Due to its proximity to the Firth of Clyde fish have also made their way into this burn and attracts many insects and bird life too.

At the exit near Gulls Walk there is also otters present.  The full length of the burn is 1.5 mile.
